4 Essential Pillars to a Healthy Lifestyle
We must build, heal, and maintain our 4 pillars of health to achieve greater happiness, energy, and grace. Each of these pillars are interconnected with the others, capable of influencing each other in both positive and negative ways.
Body: Better sleep, preventing overexertion
Mind: Calmness, managing overwhelm, feeling peace
Body: Balanced and filling meals for energy
Mind: Nutrients to support your mental health
Body: Greater strength, endurance, flexibility
Mind: Passion, productivity, creativity, fun
Body: Shared experiences and adventures
Mind: Love, sense of belonging, preventing loneliness
Our strengths can aid our deficiencies: Good rest can give us energy to exercise, while plentiful exercise can lead to better rest. Peace in mind will lead to better sleep, better sleep will lead to peace in mind.
Our deficiencies can harm our strengths: Poor rest can deprive us of the energy to exercise, while lack of exercise can lead to unsatisfactory rest. Increased stress can lead to poor sleep, poor sleep will lead to increased stress.
Our physical and mental wellbeing are highly interconnected, and you can’t improve one without addressing the other. By nurturing these 4 pillars of health, we will naturally find ourselves building our ideal body, aging gracefully, and finding greater happiness and life satisfaction.
Guided by Japanese Principles
There is a lot we can learn from traditional Japanese principles of health, and adapt it to the modern lifestyle.
My philosophy is guided by my own experience growing up in both the United States and in Japan. I will share what I’ve experienced, learned, and what principles I’ve employed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Whether that be through sharing recipes, practical exercise habits, or insight on Japanese psychology towards a balanced lifestyle, my hope is that you will find something of value that will help you toward a more fulfilling lifestyle.
I hope to empower you with the strength that you can control your own well-being.
